Plus Quilt

I'm a big fan of "plus" quilts.  I've done two baby quilts with plus blocks (here and here), and I wanted plus quilts for the bunk beds at the island.  I started searching for the perfect pattern about a year ago and found this on Pinterest.  Many of the commenters asked if there was a pattern for this quilt, but I didn't see one and unfortunately, clicking on the patterns tab on that blog led to an Error 404.

So I took out my graph paper book and attempted to replicate it as best I could.  I went with 3" squares in blues, greens and greys.  The finished size is about 80" x 70".

Can you see the booboo I made?

The backing is a blue Connecting Threads print.  I didn't have quite enough of it so I added a print I've had in my stash forever.  And the binding is a scrappy bunch of leftover strips from other quilts in the same colours as the top.

I went with a soft meander in a light grey thread for the quilting.

How cute are these little ducklings?!
I took these pictures after washing the quilt.  I just love the nice crinkly look.

I already started working on the other quilt which will go on the second bed and with any luck, both beds will go on a boat ride in early May.

This is project number 3 on my FAL list for Q1.  I will also link up at Crazy Mom Quilts for Finish It Up Friday and at Anja Quilts for TGIFF.

I love the Tetris feel of this quilt, such an original take on the plus quilt layout! And your colors are right up my alley, I love cool colors like blue and green. :)

I love your layout! I have been thinking of making a plus quilt because it gives a chance to show off favorite fabrics, and your quilt makes me even more inclined to make one. Thanks for sharing!

J'adore tes couleurs Isabelle. Je cherche un patron de "plus quilt" depuis un moment. Celui-ci est vraiment beau. Et comme toujours tu es une vraie machine! Bravo!

I love Plus Quilts. Those squares look bigger than 3" from the pictures. Looks wonderful with all of it's crinkly goodness.

I love the deconstructed feel of this plus quilt; way to go for making this after finding there was no pattern!

I love this! You should create a pattern now that you've done the math. The backing is a great print. Thanks for linking up with TGIFF @ Anja Quilts.
