I have another baby quilt to share with you today! When I first saw this pattern by Yvonne at Quilting Jetgirl, I immediately fell in love. And although I was tempted to make the queen size version, I decided to stick to the baby quilt size.
I tried to stay close to the same colour choices as the pattern because I loved it so much, but now that I'm looking at pictures of my finished quilt, I don't think I was as successful with the transparency effect as Yvonne was with hers. Also, I just noticed that I sewed the panel on the right upside down! Oh well!
Some of the fabrics I chose are prints and that might be why the transparency effect isn't as pronounced on my version. Also, I went with Kona Cloud (pale blue) as my background because I didn't have enough white.
This was a really quick and fun quilt to sew - the cutting does take a bit of time and you really need to be organized to make sure the pieces don't get lost. I liked that sewing this quilt top was like putting together a puzzle!
Once again, I chose to quilt this project with wavy lines stitched with my walking foot.
For the back, I sewed together nine fat quarters in shades of blue. Some of these have larger prints I have had in my stash for a long, long time and just didn't think I would use otherwise.
And to add a nice contrasting binding against the light blue, I went with orange.
Stats:
I will be linking up at a few fun places this week:

I've always loved this quilt as well. Your version is great and I'm sure no one will know that the panel was sewn upside down. Your wavy lines are also great.
ReplyDeleteThis is darling. It looks alot of fun to make!
ReplyDeleteLovely quilt Izzy, and you made it your own with that differently orientated panel :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a pretty quilt, and the blue background gives it a cozy soft look. I wouldn't have noticed the panel if you hadn't mentioned it.
ReplyDeleteOh I really like your version!
ReplyDeleteI love your version, Izzy, and if you hadn't pointed out the panel on the right I probably would never have noticed. :) I think the transparency works fine - I can see the shapes floating on top of each other.
ReplyDeleteVery fun! I like the back just as much as the front! Unless they are intimately familiar with Yvonee's pattern, nobody will ever know something is upside down. :) I sure didn't! I still don't know. I chose not to study it and figure it out. It looks good just as is.
ReplyDeleteI love the light blue background, it still allows the colours to pop while adding a nice softness to the finished look. I love it!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome. I like the background colour choice. I notice some of your wavy lines cross over each other. I've never tried that. Might need to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I'm especially fond of your use of prints and those wavy quilting lines. Well done!
