A Finished Circle of Flying Geese

A few months ago, I shared my first ever paper-pieced project on this blog, my Circle of Flying Geese. I saw the pattern for the first time on Nicole's blog and knew, right then and there, that I had to make one.

Fast forward to now, and I have a finished quilt!

Ta da!

The finished size is about 30" square. I used a rainbow of Kona solids to piece it but then went with a print for the binding. The fabric I used had been sitting in my stash for years and I just fell out of love with it, so thought I could use it as binding, if nothing else.

Now that it's done, I'm almost regretting using it. It screams a little too traditional for the quilt. But hey! I'm not unsewing it. It isn't that bad. :-)

I FMQd paisleys in the background of each block and left the geese, sashing and border unquilted.

And there you have it! My 2nd finish of 2014.

Will be linking this cute little finish at a few places this week:

Have a fabulous weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Izzy

  12. Flying gees are my favorite and the spectrum against a gray background is so appealing. I especially like how you quilted down the background and left the geese "free".

  13. What a fab circle of flying geese. Your color choices are perfect. This is so pretty. The background really kicks the colors of the geese forward. So nice.
