Christmas Decorating Has Started!

I finished my Christmas Hourglass Patches quilt tonight!  Yay!  I finished the quilting over the weekend, and all that was left was sew the binding.  After dinner, the dishes and the dog walking, I practically ran to my sewing room to get it done!  And here it is...

My poor 8 year-old was standing on the couch trying to hold on to both top corners.  He was obviously having a hard time!

Unfortunately, because I started this quilt soooooo long ago, I can't remember what fabric this is.  If you know it, please let me know in the comments.  The quilt was designed by Lynette Jensen of Thimbleberries and it finishes at about 70" x 76" - quite perfect for snuggling under.

I quilted in the ditch along each block and within the hourglass blocks.  I also quilted straight lines in each of the "patches" and stitched some holly leaves in the red border.

I'm super happy with this finish!  Here it is on the living room couch, waiting for the holidays to get here.

Now if I could just keep the cat and the dog off of it!

  1. Isn't it rewarding to finish a quilt? And what perfect timing for Christmas decorating! I love how the blue border adds just a bit of brightness to the Christmas colors.
