First, Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends! I had a wonderful holiday weekend. All of the kids came over to the cottage today for lunch and we had turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, meat pie, greavy, stuffing... and... apple pie! (I know the more traditional desert would have been pumpkin pie, but I'm not a fan!)
Now for the quilty part... Because of the long weekend, I had planned on finishing the top for Hubble and get started on making more 241 Tote Bags (which I decided were going to be Christmas presents). BUT I left my iPad at the office on Friday so didn't have the patterns with me.
I wasn't about to spend 3 days away from my sewing room so instead, I decided to work on quilting tops.
I finished Dimestore first.
I decided to keep it simple and quited in the ditch along the sashing. I used some Christmas fabric I had leftover from a quilt top I finished last year for the binding and pieced the back with that fabric as well. This was the first time I ever pieced a back and I have to admit, I really like the look.
On Sunday, I chose to finish Decoy, my July Schnibble.
I also quilted in the ditch for Decoy. I stitched around each block, each border and each star. I love it! I found a pink fabric in my stash which I used for the binding as well as the backing, but now that it's all finished, that pink wasn't a great choice. It's not the right pink... but it'll have to do because I'm not undoing it! :-)
So a pretty productive weekend even if it didn't work out exactly as planned!
And how was your weekend?
Izzy

The pink looks good, at least on my computer monitor! I love the pieced back...that's how I do a lot of mine. Sounds like a nice weekend!

ReplyDeleteWhat great quilts! So nice to knock a couple of projects off the list, isn't it? I wasn't nearly as productive... only got the binding 3/4 sewn on to my daughter's new bed quilt. Hoping to finish it by Friday!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice holiday! You got so much done even though it wasn't what you planned on doing. Impressive!
