TGIFF - A Regatta Finish

Welcome to TGIFF!

I'm really happy to share my latest finish with you this week for a number of reasons: It's my first finish in what feels like a long time. We've had an unusually hot summer here in Montreal and working under a quilt just hasn't been very fun. Also, my work life is completely out of balance right now - I'm spending way too much time working lately (and staying up way too late in the process) so no time spent at the sewing machine.

Another reason for my giddiness at sharing this quilt is that it is 100% made from fabric scraps. Getting my scraps under control has been on my list of priorities in the sewing department for a while now and it feels as though I'm getting nowhere! Making an entire quilt out of my low volume scraps has definitely made a dent into that particular basket.

The pattern is called "Regatta" and is from the book Stash Statement by Kelly Young. I purchased the book specifically for getting my scraps under control and have a number of the quilts on my To Do List for the rest of this year and into 2019.
As I said above, I used my low volume scraps for the background (with a few darker tan or beige pieces) along with some purple scraps from my Rustic finish back in June.

The quilting is my favourite flower FMQ design stitched with Aurifil #2000 in 50 wt which matched the low volume background almost perfectly. I quilted the designs pretty large which gives the quilt an amazing texture and it was quite fast to do.

Even the binding was sewn from leftover purple fabrics!
It feels incredible to be back in the sewing room - I really hope I'm back here every week to share some of my projects!

How about you? Do you have a finish to share this week? If you do, please go ahead and link-up below. Don't forget to visit some of the links and leave comments! We all enjoy visitors don't we? :-)

  6. Great interpretation of the Regatta quilt! I made mine with blues, some greens and violets, not even thinking of a different color way, though I did make it bigger. Yours turned out fabulous!

  7. It is fabulous. I have yet to make a low volume quilt and seeing yours makes me one to add it to my list.

  8. Some scrap quilts have it and some do not. Your scrap quilt, WOW. It looks wonderful. I'm currently trying to use up some scraps and get my unquilted tops to a minimum. I could be so fortunate to have a finish as wonderful as yours. Thank you for the linky party. Denise@fortheloveofgeese
