Sewing Machine Wall Hanging

I've been gone a long time... way longer than I thought I would be.  Work has been absolutely insane and by the time I get home at night, after dinner is done, the dishes are put away and I can finally sit down, I just want to watch stupid TV or play dumb games on my cell phone.

So not much quilting has happened lately and if there's no quilting going on, then there's really no blogging to do.  Anyhow, I decided that quilting helps me relax so I've been dragging my butt to my sewing room a little more lately and finally have some stuff to show you.

Today, I'd like to introduce a small wall hanging I made a couple of weeks ago.

I used the Quiet Play pattern you can find here.

I used scraps for the colourful pieces and two shades of Kona for the background.

For the quilting, I chose to stitch in the ditch around the sewing machine and went with swirls in the background.

It felt really good to get back to the sewing machine and finish something.  This cute wall hanging is now pinned to my sewing room wall right above my cutting table.

Linking up at Crazy Mom Quilts for Finish It Up Friday and at Quokka Quilts for TGIFF.

Have a fabulous weekend!

  1. The fabrics and placement are just perfection, Izzy! Isn't it interesting how we forget that making beautiful things is a great way to unwind? I'm glad you found your way back to your sewing room!

  3. This is so perfect! I have always loved this pattern and you know of my deep love for all things Kate Spain. I just can't get over the quilting though! My spirals are garbage! Might need to practice more so I can get this level of awesome!

  6. I know exactly how you feel, and have experienced the same! When I come home from a stressful day at work, I just want to sit and veg. I've overused my brain all day so just want to do something that requires no thought whatsoever...

  9. Very cute mini! I really like how the swirls in the background give texture and how you left the sewing machine un-quilted to give it a little pop.
