Riley Blake Challenge - A Finish!

I received the Riley Blake Challenge fabric bundle from the Modern Quilt Guild in early October and then the bundle sat and sat while I decided on what to make with it. Last month, I was watching Elizabeth Hartman's Craftsy class for the millionth time, when it hit me... I want to work on being more comfortable with randomness in 2014 and Elizabeth's Scattered Squares pattern fit the bill perfectly.

So I cut up my Riley Blake bundle, grabbed some solid background fabric and started sewing... Randomly!

Aside from a couple of squares I just had to move around, I basicaly sewed the squares together as I was pulling them out of a plastic bag.

I used the leftovers to piece the back.

And I quilted it with some simple straight lines on the diagonal.

I will be showing this finished quilt at the next Montreal Modern Quilt Guild meeting and cannot wait to see what everyone else came up with!

Will be linking up at Crazy Mom Quilts for Finish It Up Friday.

Have a great weekend - I plan on relaxing because Monday is back at work for me after 2 weeks off.

Thanks for stopping by!

Izzy

  2. Nicely done! I really had a tough time with this... could not find inspiration. I'm rather "meh" on what I ended up with, but very curious to see everyone's results next week! :)

  3. Love the new look to the blog! And I love the randomness of the quilt! I think that will be one of my goals this year too! Randomness! I have so many scraps that need to be used.

  4. Nice finish. Yea, I think once you're broken the ice into "randomness", it's a lot easier to go down that road. Congrats on your finish.

  6. Very nice! I'm all for working on randomness. It's hard to be random! At least I think so. Maybe I'll try something like that.
