January Goal for ALYOF

During my vacation, I pieced a quilt top for a colleague whose wife is expecting their second child. The baby boy is due at the beginning of February, so this little quilt needs to be done by the end of this month.

The pattern I chose for this baby quilt is the Hashtag quilt by Camille Roskelley. Camille's design has 30 blocks, but I thought that would be a little bit big for a baby quilt, so I decreased the number of blocks to 20, in a 4 x 5 layout. The size is going to be about 45" x 55".

I used a Kona Navy background (a first for me) and a jelly roll of the Apple Jacks collection by Tim and Beck for Moda. I have half the jelly roll left so I think I'll use those strips for the binding.

I ordered the backing fabric last week, so it should be here within the next few days. I decided to quilt this little baby quilt with a gentle meander to keep the quilt nice and soft.

Linking up at Sew Bittersweet Designs and Fiber of All Sorts for ALYOF.

Wish me luck!

  4. It's lovely! Navy is a great idea! Not quite a jarring as black and more forgiving than white. Perfect! :)

  8. I really like it! I have bought some Apple Jacks to make a quilt for my new niece or nephew due in Feb. I'm thinking I'll make a plus quilt. I've picked yellow for the background colour, but your navy is great too.
