Canasta - The August Schnibble

I didn't think I would be able to finish Canasta to be in this month's parade over at Sherri's and Sinta's. Once again, I overestimated the time I would be able to spend making my Schnibble and underestimated how long it would take to piece these little blocks.

BUT the universe was on my side because the parade won't be up until tomorrow! Yay!

Sorry about the less than perfect photo. It's litterally pouring buckets here today so I had to settle for an indoors picture. (Can you see Puffs lying down on top of the dryer there?)

I went with solids to piece Canasta and decided to make the smaller version without the borders. I think it'll look great with a bright solid binding once the quilting is done.

The top measures about 26" square. Perfect for a wall hanging. :-)

Make sure you visit Sherri and Sinta tomorrow to see all the different Canastas out there. I've already seen a few and they are gorgeous!

Happy Labour Day!

  1. I'm so happy the delay enabled you to finish! I was hoping it would give two extra days to people who couldn't get it done. I love the brights contrasting on the gray--it sort of reminds me of colorful umbrellas on a rainy day--imagery no doubt inspired by your weather.

  2. I'm glad you were able to finish :-) I also thought the blocks wouldn't take me as long as they did, but aren't they cute? Yours looks wonderful! I love that you used solids.

  3. Great looking quilt! You have a great eye for color! And I love seeing your cat in the background - Puffs looks like he could be a twin to my Big Dude -- LOL!

  5. Yeah! We were both able to finish because of the delay. I love your Canasta. I have not made an all solid quilt yet. I will have to try to find something to make that way soon. I sure hope the next pattern is easier! I can't believe how many hours I spent on this one. And it is far from perfect - many chopped of tips. :)
