WIP Wednesday and Swoon 2013

I have a Swoon quilt on my list of goals for 2013 and when I signed up for Camille Roskelley's Craftsy class a couple of months ago, I was super excited when I discovered we would learn how to make a Swoon quilt.

I've had my 18 FQs for Swoon for a while, but I just was never able to find the time to get going.

Until this week.  Sarah, at FairyFace Designs, decided to host a Swoon QAL she is calling Swoon 2013.  This QAL is for all of us who really wanted to get on the Swoon bandwagon when it first came out, but for whatever reason, didn't.

If you're interested, click the button in my sidebar.  There is a Flickr group for this QAL and you can use #swoon2013 on Instagram to see everyone's progress.

So in addition to spending a few hours quilting Two Percent over the weekend and finishing the piecing of Dulcinea, the June Schnibble, I got out my 18 FQs and started cutting.

I am using Lucy's Crab Shack by Sweetwater for my Swoon...

  1. I decided to join in on the fun too! I have the pattern but haven't decided on the fabric yet. I will be making 4 blocks to make a wallhanging for my dining room! Can't wait to see your progress!

  4. Good for you! I think you will find it not as challenging as it looks after doing the starburst quilt earlier this year. They are pretty similar. I like your fabric choice and think it will be a nice departure from the usual color vairiations.

  5. Well I got the timing all wrong. I missed the first swoon along and I pieced it before this swoon along 2! It will look great in Lucy's Crab Shack. Very summery and beachy. My tip is to cut all the pieces first, lay them out like Camille suggests in the pattern, then chain piece when you can. It makes the piecing very quick! There is a lot of pieces so the cutting does take a while.
