I realize I haven't really been here in a while and I also realize I'm crazy late posting my list for Q1 of the 2019 FAL (because the link-up closed days ago!), but I thought I'd put it up here anyways. Maybe it's going to help me get back to the machine and to the blog!
I haven't been away from the blog or the machine because something bad happened or anything - just work and exhaustion! I just have not been able to find the time or the energy to sew and because I haven't been sewing, there is really not much to blog about!
But hopefully that's over and I'll be back more often to show off my finishes.
So let's get started with the list of projects I'm planning on finishing this quarter.
First up is a WIP that's been staring at me from my cutting table for months now. I started this as a way to use up my black and grey scraps. I cut up a bunch of 4.5" squares (270 of them to be exact) and some strips of pink and purple prints and solids. I then created a few wonky crosses but then moved on to another project and the pile of squares just sat there. During the holidays last month, I finished up the cross blocks and started sewing the rows together and then... I put everything away again. And that's where this project stands at the moment.
To be done: finish sewing the rows, assemble the top, prepare a backing, baste, quilt and bind.
Number 2 is a garment I've been meaning to make for a little while now: the Mandy Boat Tee by Tessuti Fabrics. I purchased a really inexpensive knit fabric from Fabric.com for this because this was going to be my first knit garment in over 25 years and I wasn't sure about how successful I was going to be.
To be done: re-do the sleeves (they are way too small and I basically can't move my arms) and hem.
Up next is my Flock of Geese quilt. The pattern is from the 2018 Quilter's Planner and was designed by Cheryl Brickey of Meadow Mist Designs. The pattern calls for fat quarters, but I decided to use my pink scraps instead and I love the results so far.
To be done: baste, quilt and binding.
Number 4 is a pattern called Color Crossing by Stephanie Palmer for Quilt Theory (unfortunately, Quilt Theory doesn't exist anymore, but you can find Stephanie's blog post about the pattern here.) Instead of using charm packs for this, once again, I decided to raid my scrap bins and cut up a bunch of 5" green squares for this one.
To be done: baste, quilt and binding.
And my final project for this quarter's list is a mini quilt I started during a Montreal MQG workshop in the Fall. We invited Andrea from 3rd Story Workshop to lead her Gemstone workshop for us back in November and I decided to use green fabrics to create a teardrop cut emerald. I actually put the whole top together the day of the workshop and it's been sitting there since.
To be done: baste, quilt and binding.
So 5 projects and not a lot of piecing really - looks like I'll be basting, quilting and binding for a better part of this quarter!

ReplyDeleteI feel your pain about work and exhaustion....just not enough hours in the day to do everything. That's a great list. And kudos for using scraps. Did you love our Andrea? She's in our guild, and I've done pattern testing for her. She's awesome.
