A work colleage of mine is having a baby boy! Naturally, when she made the announcement, my first thought was "Yay - I get to make a baby quilt!" I almost immediately started looking on Pinterest for inspiration and then found this blog post by Kelby Sews.
There was no pattern or tutorial, so I took out my graph paper book and started figuring out how to make something similar with a small stack of brightly coloured fat quarters and some Kona Ash.
For the quilting, I went with a soft meander with a grey Aurifil thread.
For the backing, I used a super cute fabric with bunnies and metallic thread... it's just adorable (unfortunately, I cut off the selvage and forgot to make a note of the designer and collection).
I like that the back is so soothing and calm and balances out all the brightness of the front.
The finished size is 36" x 42".

I love the bright fun fabrics on the front of your quilt and that is the sweetest backing fabric. I'm sure your co-worker will love it. Congrats on your finish.

ReplyDeleteThis is a fun quilt. Love the colour mix, kid friendly but not too baby-ish. Something that will grow with the little baby boy. Well done!
