I'm not going to lie... I have lost all desire to sew and quilt. Well... That's not exactly true. I still have the desire to, but I've lost my motivation. Every time I've gone downstairs to my sewing room in the past month or so, I can't decide what to work on and end up just going back upstairs to watch television or read or... Go outside!
I did do a tiny bit of quilting this past weekend, but that's pretty much it since I finished the Wonky Stars baby quilt.
And then these 2 fun QALs appeared in my Bloglovin feed!
The first is the Supernova Friendship Block Swap over at Late Night Quilter. I will be partnering with Julie who blogs at That's Sew Julie.
These are the fabric groupings I pulled and will be using Kona Snow as the background.
Our first block will be swapped on June 15. I'm really excited about this one and cannot wait to get started.
The second QAL is The Nested Churn Dash QAL hosted by Quilt Jane.
You have to purchase the block pattern to participate, but it's only $2! Great deal for a really cool looking 24" block. The QAL starts on June 1 so if you're interested, go ahead and get that pattern.
So there you have it! I'm really hoping these QALs will get me back in the sewing room actually sewing stuff.
How about you? Do you find it hard to get motivated to sew at this time of year? Would love to know I'm not the only one! :-)
Thanks for stopping by!
Izzy
P.S. I finally created a Dizzy Quilts account on Instagram. I haven't posted any pictures yet, but you can find me at dizzyquiltsblog. Leave me your IG name in the comments so I can follow you! :-)
I love quilt alongs!!! They really are great motivators to get projects completely done. The fabric you pulled for the first one is a great mix. Looking forward to seeing your progress!
ReplyDeleteI was beginning to worry about you. Glad everything is okay. I too have had a hard time finding my sewing mojo. I am working on a cross body bag for myself but nothing else really says sew me!
ReplyDeleteI am waiting on a few quilts from my long armer then I will bind those. I need to get some things together to start my summer sewing. I made 6 quilt tops last year so I hope to do that many or more this year. I need to gather my supplies and get ready. I do have 2 buckets of scraps that need to be made into quilts too! In the US we celebrate Memorial Day on Monday so I am off work and a quilty friend is coming up to sew with me. Maybe I need to start a new project.
Can't wait to see your new projects. No smartphone yet so I can't join you on Instagram. :(
Many Blessings!
Amy
A QAL is a great way to get back into things--keeps you accountable :-). My instagram is klandine if you like, I really enjoy following all sorts of quilters on there!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with motivation. I still have motivation to sew, but I have 3 patterns in progress and I just can't get myself to sit inside on the computer to draft them when it is so nice outside. I just started following you on instagram... I am MeadowMistDesigns.
ReplyDeleteMany projects, little time, beautiful weather. Supposed to rain all week, yay, no lawn mowing, raking, weeding, etc. Sewing with little to no guilt about missing such a beautiful and short outdoor season...oh and bugs are starting with a vengeance so that is another wonderful reason to stay inside for a bit =) Another possible QAL is The Graph Paper QAL over with Fabric Mutt May 29 - July 7...this is gonna help use up my PSQ squares I've been collecting!
ReplyDeleteThis is funny because I'm doing that one with you and I also decided to join the nested churn dash before I saw this post. QALs are awesome for motivation! I hope to get my fabric cut and started tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteHey Izzy, I haven't sewn for so long either. Time constraints have affected my mojo. I'm on Instagram at sarahkrothe. Hope yours comes back soon. Mine should with the upcoming school holidays in Australia.
