After a couple of weeks off, I thought it would be good to do a recap of what I'm working on.
At the top of my To Do list during the holidays was reorganizing my sewing room and fabric. The mess was driving me crazy.
Once I had room to think, I pieced the February 2013 block from Don't Call Me Betsy's Lucky Stars BOM. I messed up with the fabric placement and the points aren't perfect, but I've decided to leave it alone.
I also paper-pieced the first block of Quiet Play's Sew Kitschy BOM. Once again, I didn't line up the seams perfectly so the block is a little (or a lot) off. I'm going to have to unpick that seam though because it's really bugging me.
And finally, a few weeks ago, Amanda Jean of Crazy Mom Quilts posted pictures of a gorgeous pillow cover she made with 2 1/2" mini charms. I just had to make one for myself.
I've got it all pieced and basted and I think I might try to hand quilt this one.
In addition to these little projects, I'm making progress on my Modern Crosses blocks, I finished my Riley Blake Challenge quilt (you can see pictures here) and I finished quilting my Circle of Flying Geese quilt (I will take pictures later this week and post them here).
So a pretty good week. Between now and next Wednesday, I would like to:
- Start quilting my Hashtag Baby Quilt.
- Start hand quilting my pillow cover.
- Start piecing another baby quilt for a really good friend who's expecting her first child in March.
- Piece the January 2014 block for the Lucky Stars BOM.
And what are you working on? Are you getting back in your regular sewing routine now that the holidays are over?
Thank you so much for stopping by!
Izzy
Loving the pillow cover - I too was taken with the one on Crazy Mom Quilts and immediately put that on my lists. BOM are fun!

I'm joining in a BOM for the 1st time so browsing to see others' blocks. I picked out several seams, after deciding I wouldn't, so I know what you mean! The stars are going to be fabulous! Your pillow is very cool and I just saw someone do big? hand quilting on a friendship star pillow. I don't think that was the term, but you might know what I mean, and it looked great!
ReplyDeleteLovely work! I really like your mini. BTW I also like your blog design. It looks great!
ReplyDeleteI love the colours in your oven mitts and the star's great! I'm a paper piecing novice but hopefully I'll be able to tackle stars one day - all those points frighten me atm ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the oven mitt block. How cool!
ReplyDeleteAdorable blocks! Love your color choices. Great pattern for using the minis. I have a couple of those and was wondering what in the world I will do with them:)
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you have been busy. Love the mini charms.
ReplyDeleteWow! So busy! I loved that pillow too. You're doing it justice for sure!
ReplyDeleteI don't see anything wrong with your seams, but if you do, you should fix them. After you're done it doesn't really take that long (well, not as long as it seemed like before you started anyway!)
I messed that block up too but left it as well! Your's looks just great!
ReplyDeleteYour blocks look great! Love your fabric choices for the Sew Kitschy block :)

ReplyDeleteyour flying geese quilt is so great. I have always liked that pattern too but have not attempted to make one.
