I finished my first ever hand quilted project this week! I showed you a close up of the quilting earlier this week, but here is the full reveal.
This 16" square pillow cover was inspired by Amanda Jean's stunning pillow. When I saw it on the Crazy Mom Quilts blog, I just HAD to make one.
I pieced the top with a Bonnie and Camille mini charm pack (Marmalade I think!) and used a cream dotty print from their Modern Vintage collection for the sashing.
I hand quilted it using Aurifil 12 wt thread about 1/4" away from the seams.
The back is a simple envelope made with a Fig Tree & Co print.
I have to admit i didn't love the hand quilting. I didn't hate it, but I don't know that I would use this technique on a large quilt.
Now I need to get back to those baby quilts!
Linking up at the usual places again this week:
- Crazy Mom Quilts for Finish It Up Friday
- TGIFF over at Quilty Habit
- Needle and Thread Thursday over at My Quilt Infatuation
Have a great weekend!

I love your Marmalade pillow! Your hand stitching looks great!
ReplyDeleteooooh!! I love it! I liked Amanda Jean's too. Patchwork is really the bomb and always my favorite type of quilt. I love the crazy amazing ones too, but there's something about that patchwork...
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet pillow! The hand quilting adds a really nice detail, though I agree that I probably wouldn't want to do it on a full quilt.
ReplyDeleteI remember hand quilting some with my Mom when I was a teenager, but don't think I would do it now. But your pillow looks great, so pretty! And I agree with Susan, patchwork is awesome :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and the fabric on the back coordinates really well. I agree simple patchwork is so awesome!
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful... Not a hand sewer either.
ReplyDeleteVery cute. Your hand quilting looks great and I love that you quilted it with aqua thread!!
ReplyDeleteWOW! I adore that hand quilting! You did a beautiful job!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pillow! I used to hand quilt everything, until the day I realized I could finish projects a lot faster if I machine quilted them. I do still enjoy hand sewing and hand quilting though.
ReplyDeleteI love the Marmalade fabric line! your pillow is so pretty, Izzy!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing at Needle and Thread Thursday!

ReplyDeleteThis pillow is so sweet. I love the detail of the hand stitching. I rarely do it myself, but there is something so comforting in sewing by hand.
