I had a super productive weekend!
I managed to finish the quilting on Starburst so that the only thing left to do before the big reveal and the parade over at Happy Quilting is sewing on the binding. The plan is to get that done Tuesday night. Here's a sneak peek at the quilting...
I also finished piecing my Scrappy Trip top.
Another blogger (can't remember who now which is terrible) added a solid inner and a pieced outer border to their top and I loved the idea so I thought about doing the same thing. But after piecing all of the blocks together, I could not decide on a colour for the inner border. Should I use white or maybe yellow or maybe pink? So instead of making a hasty decision and then regretting it, I decided to fold the top and put it away for now.
And finally, I pieced Block 9 of the Fat Quarter Shop's Designer Mystery BOM.
This block is called "Lakeside Retreat" and was designed by Joanna Figueroa of www.FigTreeQuilts.com. I loved the picture of the block on the package, but when I finished it, I didn't like it so much... Then I realized I hadn't pieced it correctly. I messed up on the flying geese - they are upside down! Oh well...
How about you all? Did you have a good weekend?

Wow, Izzy, when do you sleep? The starburst looks amazing! I'll be looking for it in the parade!
ReplyDeleteWow! Awesome projects, all of them! I love your scrappy trip quilt. I would try a white inner border or maybe even a dark brown? Just a suggestion. Can't wait to see your completed starburst!
ReplyDeleteExciting to have your starburst quilted! Looks great from the little sneak peak! I haven't even basted mine:(
ReplyDeleteGorgeous quilts.
ReplyDeleteIzzy - on your scrappy trip quilt...how did you cut/sew/arrange the pieces so that you have the white in the fashion you have it there? I am wanting to do one of these, but wasn't to happy with just the squares all together and I really like how the white separates the blocks and forms the pattern and just sets it all off brilliantly. How did you align the white strips or sew the blocks together...whatever you did to make this happen...what/how was it???

Love your scrappy trip! My initial layout did navy stripes where you have your white, but I ran out of fabric and went scrappy instead. I may have to make another, I like the organized version. Anyway, for the border, I think I might vote pink? GL!
ReplyDeleteYeah Izzy! You have gotten quite a lot accomplished! Good for you! I noticed my FQS BOM envelopes... getting pretty stacked up!Your Scrappy Trip quilt is incredible! I am in awe of you!
