WIP Wednesday

I've been on vacation for a little over a week now and am not due back at work until Monday, January 7. So I've been spending quite a bit of time in my sewing room. Since Christmas day, I managed to finish the baby quilt for my little nephew (who finally made his appearance last night by the way!). I washed it and wrapped it and it is now ready for me to deliver it tonight. (If you want to see a picture as well as all of the stats for this baby quilt, go to my 2012 Finishes page.)

I also completed another pillow - I blogged about that one here.

And since 2013 is going to be a year of finishes, I went searching for my oldest UFO and found one that wasn't even listed in my sidebar (I added it yesterday) - the 2010 Fat Quarter Shop Mystery Designer BOM. Back in August, I finished piecing all the blocks and was determined to finish the whole thing before Christmas (because it is a Christmas themed quilt), but somehow, the blocks just ended up in their little bin again.
So a couple of days ago, I got the blocks out and opened the finishing kit. I'm proud to say the centre of the quilt is now done!

Today, I've been working on the borders which have fabulous stars in them... love it! :-)

You're probably thinking I'm nuts to be working on a Christmas quilt in January, but I just really, really want that top completed! I'll then plan on basting and quilting it next Fall so it's completed finished by the time Christmas 2013 rolls around! :-)

Linking up at Freshly Pieced for WIP Wednesday.

Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Love your Christmas quilt. I had not yet discovered the Fat Quarter shop as early as 2010 but would certainly have loved to do that BOM. As for working on Christmas now, I have a Grinch quilt still on my design wall from posts of mine in November and December of 2011. My excuse is that I switched to quilts for a brand new and first grand-baby. Looks like you can claim the same for your nephew. You have inspired me to get back to that Grinch now and not wait til next Christmas.

  3. I actually think that's the best time to make a Christmas quilt -- while that whole spirit is still with you and your decorations are all around you. Last January I made the Christmas Gifts quilt and 2 Grinch quilts for my grandsons, and it was a great way to start Christmas Throughout the Year. I love your quilt! Florence
